Yankees-Stonewall Scholarship for Seniors - apply by 4/15/2022

The DOE, in partnership with the Yankees and The Stonewall Inn, created the Yankees-Stonewall Scholars Initiative, now in its fourth year. Please encourage eligible graduating seniors to apply for the 2022 Yankees-Stonewall Scholarship by April 15. This is a one-time scholarship of $10,000, which will be awarded to a student from each borough to celebrate the achievements of New York City public school graduating seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and impactful support of the LGBTQ community. Please note the following eligibility criteria for students:   

  • A graduating senior with at least a 2.5 GPA; 
  • Planning to attend a two-year or four-year college;   
  • Exhibited a commitment to equality, leadership in the area of LGTBQ support, and made significant contributions to the LGTBQ community.      

Finalists will be selected for an interview with representatives from the DOE and the New York Yankees. Winners will be notified in May and, pending future COVID-19 protocols, invited to participate in an on-field ceremony during the Yankees Pride Night in
