We’re happy to welcome Mr. Eric Smith as Assistant Principal leading the Math and Computer Science Departments at Stuyvesant this year. Last school year, we started to get to know our new Stuy family members with three brief questions. This week, we are happy to get to know a little about him.
Mr. Smith shared, “for the past six years, I’ve been at Brooklyn Technical High School. I spent three years as an instructional coach for the math department, and three years as the Assistant Principal of Mathematics.” Mr. Smith also shared, “This year, I’m teaching AP Calculus AB, which I’ve taught for several years. Even if the course isn't new to me, I always find something new and interesting about calculus concepts that I've seen over and over again. One of my goals for teaching calculus this year is to incorporate some of the more classical topics that have fallen out of favor a bit.”
I asked Mr. Smith to tell us something interesting about himself (i.e. research, hobby, prior work, etc.) and he shared, “I love to travel. This summer, I visited my 64th and 65th countries. But don't believe everything you read on ratemyteachers.com--I don't speak several languages.”. We’re excited to get to know our new Stuy family members better and welcome Mr. Smith among them! Thanks so much for sharing, Mr. Smith!
