Stuyvesant Hosts Suicide Assessment Training for Counselors

This week, our Social Worker, Ms. Jessica Chock-Goldman arranged for Stuyvesant to host a suicide assessment training/conversation with Dr. Ruth Gerson, Director of Bellevue Hospital Children’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program. Ms. Chock-Goldman shared that “Conversations about suicidal ideation are becoming more prevalent in our daily discourse with students, and we believe that it is imperative that in-school clinicians have the language to assess our students.” 40 people attended this informative session; a combination of school counselors, social workers, intern social workers, an NYU professor, and two members of our district team.
