Stuy Math Modelers Earn “Outstanding” in College Competition!

Congratulations to Stuy’s mathematical modelers for their successful participation in SCUDEM, a college-level modeling competition! The team of Corwin Eisenbeiss, Andy Jiang, and Kiran Yesley earned the top honor of “Outstanding” – a first for Stuyvesant –with their mathematical analysis of the degradation of cosmic dust. Their top-rated video will be posted at the SCUDEM website.

The team of Maya Agge, Jackson Hayes, and Armistead Williams earned a “Meritorious” designation for their mathematical model projecting long-term trends in the quality of AI tools, and the team of John Kennedy, Nisan Safanov, and Jed Sloan also earned “Meritorious” for their models of emergent behavior in bird flocking. The team of Tanvir Ahmed, Steven Breger, and Lucas Pavlov also submitted a successful analysis to the cosmic dust problem.

Congratulations to all the students for their successful participation in this challenging, college-level competition! For more information about mathematical modeling opportunities, see Mr. Honner in the math department.
