On April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse was visible across North America. All over NYC, people gathered to share the experience together. While the city did not experience totality, the eclipse was about 90%. Stuyvesant students and faculty had the opportunity to view the eclipse together in Battery Park City just outside Stuy thanks to a generous donation made possible by class of 2023 parent, Amy Soler and DonersChoose. 3500 pair of glasses were made available so that every member of the school could view! Ms. Pedrick arranged to deliver and distribute along with other staff members. It was a 'once in a lifetime' experience for many and an exciting educational experience!
What will you do with all those glasses? There are several ways to donate them back so that others across the world can view upcoming eclipses. You can drop off your glasses at any Warby Parker location or you can mail them back to Eclipse Glasses USA, LLC. at P.O. Box 50571, Provo, UT, 84605 where they will be donated to students in Latin america where they will experience an eclipse in August 2024. There is also a collection box at Stuyvesant where students will donate them for you.
