Last Thursday, Stuyvesant held our annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration! A wonderfully diverse group of students, staff, alumni and parents came to hear our guest speaker, professional race car driver and Stuy alumnus, Andre Castro (‘17).
Andre spoke about the role Latino representation in racing has played throughout his journey, shared both his triumphs and the low points he endured to get where he is today. Additionally, he told us how his time at Stuy reinforced and encouraged his interest in racing. And he left students with advice we can all use: don’t be so hard on yourself as you make your way through life.
Everyone shared traditional a Latino meal together for this special event. Special thanks to the leadership of Stuy Aspira, faculty advisor, Ms. Sandra Brandon and the many counselors and staff members who assisted in the planning and making this event a wonderful success.
