This week marked the culmination of the Genes in Space-8 experiment, designed by 2020 winner Kristoff Misquitta, aboard the ISS! Across five sessions, Astronaut Megan McArthur tested out some brand-new hardware — our Genes in Space Fluorescence Viewer — and carried out Kristoff's experiment, which seeks to understand how drug metabolism is impacted by the conditions of space.
Over the coming weeks, we will be hard at work analyzing Megan's results. On September 2, 2021, Astronaut Megan McArthur began to carry out the Genes in Space 2020 winning experiment aboard the ISS. She also managed to find time to record a message of congratulations to Kristoff Misquitta, the student who masterminded the experiment.
