Sophomore, Mikayla Lin joins in announcing new AAPI curriculum for DOE!

To announce the new pilot program on Asian American and Pacific Islander history program this fall from the NYC DOE, our own sophomore, Mikayla Lin was honored to attend the ceremony and speak on the topic, "A History Untold: The Importance of an AAPI Curriculum” at Tweed (DOE Central Offices) last week. Mikayla attended along with her school counselor, Mr. Joseph Feola, and Principal Yu also attended.

Mayor Eric Adams, Senator John Liu and Chancellor Banks were all in attendance and spoke. You can see a clip of MiKayla speaking on the Mayor's twitter feed at this link: https://twitter.com/NYCMayor/status/1529911351174385666

The curriculum, called “Hidden Voices: Asian American and Pacific Islanders in the United States,” is part of the Department of Education’s Hidden Voices Project and covers stories from AAPI figures and "a multitude of communities who have left their mark on this country" (David Banks).
