Sign Up by 11/9 at NOON for Parent Teacher Conferences 11/15 and 11/16/2021

Parent teacher conferences will take place via phone call on Monday, November 15 at 1-3pm and/or Tuesday, November 16 from 5:30 to 8pm. Sign up for parent teacher conferences will open on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 and close on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at noon. On November 2 at 8:00am EST, you will be able to begin signing up for phone call conferences using your Talos accounts by clicking the PTC button on your parent Talos Dashboard. READ THE TIPS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS LETTER AND THIS INFORMATION THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN -- IT IS NOT FIRST COME; FIRST SERVED, AND THERE IS NO NEED TO RUSH.

You will receive a reminder of these instructions on November 2, 2021.

Please fill out the form on Talos if you are interested in having phone conversations with your child’s teachers scheduled for November 15 or 16. If you encounter an issue filling out the form, you may reach out to Dina Ingram at ringram3@schools.nyc.gov.

You will not see the green PTC button on your Talos account until Tuesday, November 2! We have not activated it yet!

The sign up is not first-come, first-served. There no requests are pulled from the system until November 9, 2021. You may amend a request until the deadline to overwrite your last entered information.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to indicate if you need translation, in which case an interpreter will call you and tie in the teacher and/or counselor.

Instructions:

• Log in to your parent account at talos.stuy.edu (this form is not available on student accounts)
• If you do not have a parent account, please contact Dina Ingram at ringram3@schools.nyc.gov (do not wait until the last minute to do this; if you are not a registered parent/guardian in the DOE system, you cannot be granted an account until you are registered).
• Go to the Dashboard
• Click the “PTC” button under your student’s photo. (it is GREEN and says PTC)
• Fill out all fields in the form

NOTE: The form will remain open until November 9 at 12:00 noon

You will be notified on November 12 with a schedule of which date and time to expect your phone calls during the Parent Teacher Conference on Monday, November 15 from 1-3 pm and/or Tuesday, November 16 from 5:30 to 8pm.

Conferences with teachers will be 5 minutes each in length (8 minutes if interpretation is used). Conferences with counselors will be 8 minutes each in length (12 minutes if interpretation is used). Parents with Talos accounts will be emailed their child’s report card on November 1. You may also access report cards on your NYC Schools Account.

Tips and best practices for signup using Talos for parents/guardians:

• The number of teachers that parents will speak to is dependent upon the number of parents that sign up and how many teachers they are interested in speaking to.
• If you have more than one child that attends Stuyvesant, conferences should be scheduled for both children using the same parent Talos account. If you use different parent Talos accounts to sign up for each sibling, Talos will not make the connection between the different parent information and different student information and you may wind up with conflicts in appointment times. There is no rush - nothing is first-come first-serve, so please schedule siblings one at a time on the same parent Talos account.
• Selecting the widest range of availability (both conference dates) gives you the largest opportunity for fulfilling more of your requested appointments within the algorithm.
• Seniors and juniors respectively are prioritized for appointments with college counselors.
• You are entering the phone number you wish to be called at for the conference -- check it before you submit!
