Junior, Sarai Pridgen founded RISE, a Black and Latinx free high school admissions nonprofit. She and a team of Stuyvesant students are a “collaborative effort dedicated to equalizing the high school admissions process. RISE is Ready to Inspire Scholastic Excellence in the underrepresented Black and Latinx student population of NYC”. Currently they are providing cost-free tutoring, writing workshops and practice interview sessions to students at I.S. Charles O Dewey, a majority Black and Latinx school that is underrepresented in specialized high schools.
