StuyHacks is hosting a Hackathon on Saturday, January 12th!
StuyHacks is completely FREE and is a great way to promote interest in computer science in a world where it has become increasingly relevant, especially for kids who might not otherwise have access to experiences such as these.
The next hackathon is a 12-hour hack day, hosted at Stuyvesant High School and endorsed by MLH (Major Hacking League). We welcome any and every person with even a mild interest in computer science; our event is inclusive of all skill levels, providing the right level of rigor for every attendee and inviting them to explore, discover, and create something new.
While students may form teams to compete for prizes, they’re also free to just stop by for swag and workshops. At the heart of StuyHacks is the desire to bring minds from all walks to life together to think, collaborate, and learn from each other and from the mentors we provide.\
At our previous hackathons, we’ve had hundreds of hackers coming in and out throughout the day, tuning their schedules to their taste. We will be giving out t-shirts, food, and other cool swag (yet to be determined, but last year, we gave away drawstring bags etc.). These are, of course, made available through generous sponsors (who look to give back to the coding community by providing for the next generation of hackers); in the past, we’ve had companies such as Facebook, Google, and Upperline Code come in.
