Earlier this spring, the New York State Dream Act was finally approved, which will enable students who were previously ineligible for New York State financial aid due to their immigration status to now qualify for state funding like TAP or Excelsior. These awards can be worth over $5000 per year in grant aid.
The application is not yet in place but should be launched soon so that current seniors and college students can apply for NYS aid for next fall; if you were previously ineligible for TAP Excelsior due to your immigration status, please see THIS LINK and keep checking your Naviance account for the application. Once it is available, apply as soon as possible.
