New Syracuse and SUNY combined Bachelor’s-M.D. Program!

Syracuse University and SUNY Upstate Medical University are proud to announce the launch of the Syracuse University and SUNY Upstate Medical University combined Bachelor’s-M.D. Program. This replaces the program formerly known as the Upstate Accelerated Scholars Program and will serve as SUNY Upstate’s sole partnership with an undergraduate institution allowing high school students to apply for a combined bachelor’s degree and medical degree.

The SUNY Upstate Medical University combined Bachelor’s-M.D. Program allows highly qualified college applicants to waive the MCAT. There is an accelerated 3+4 option for your students who wish to major in biology and complete their studies at Syracuse University in three years before entering medical school.

Eligibility

  • Strong candidates for this program will have an excellent high school GPA and standardized test scores. While test scores are not required for admission to Syracuse University, applicants who wish to be considered for the Syracuse University and SUNY Upstate Medical University combined Bachelor’s-M.D. Program must submit scores.
  • Applicants' extracurricular activities should clearly demonstrate experience in a healthcare setting and a commitment to community service or volunteer work.
  • All undergraduate majors are eligible for the combined program.
  • New York State residents will be considered preferred candidates. 

How to Apply

  • Students interested in the combined program can apply via the Common Application or Coalition Application. They simply need to indicate interest in the program in the "Academics" section
  • The application deadline is November 15 for Early Decision I and January 5 for Early Decision II or Regular Decision
