In response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) has shifted to a temporary remote learning environment to safeguard our staff and students, and to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. As school-based teams are hard at work embracing this transition and finding innovative ways to keep our students and families involved in the learning process, we must ensure that we are implementing structures and protocols for monitoring daily student engagement and interaction.

The information collected in STARS Classroom will NOT be used for other attendance-related items, e.g., attendance on student report cards or other student records. The information collected in STARS Classroom is only being used to track student interactions in remote learning for the purposes of ensuring student well-being and following up with families. Attendance during remote learning will not appear on student report cards or other student records.
