Ms. Catherine Mcroy-Mendell had a guest speaker in her A.P. Macroeconomics class last Friday, December 13th.
She shares that Dr. Beverly Hirtle is executive vice president, head of the Research and Statistics Group, and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She oversees a group that provides analytic support for the Banks's responsibilities relating to monetary policy, banking supervision, payments system, and financial market issues. She spoke to the students about the roles and responsibilities of the New York Fed as well as the variety of career opportunities available to economists. Dr. Hirtle holds a B.A. in Economics and American Studies from Amherst College and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. (photo courtesy of Ms. Mcroy-Mendell)
