Last week, Stuyvesant College Office counselor Ms. Kleiman had the opportunity to participate in a Bates College Counselor Advisory Board meeting. She spent three days in Maine, in conversation with Bates staff and college counseling colleagues, helping the college better understand how they can reach and serve prospective students. Bates is a highly selective small liberal arts college located about 40 minutes from Portland, Maine. Some highlights of a Bates experience include: being a campus that is 100% focused on undergraduate education, not having a Greek system with fraternities and sororities, meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students (this means it can be more affordable than SUNY for some families), and it is a school where all students complete a thesis or capstone project prior to graduation.
