Jazz Generation - On May 16th, 2025, students from the Musical Genres of NYC class, taught by Harold Stephan, and NYC Government, taught by John Hanna, enjoyed live jazz performances in Stuyvesant’s media lab by a professional jazz trio. As part of the Jazz Discovery Program—a citywide initiative born from the legacy of the now-closed Jazz Standard nightclub—this program brings the rich history and sound of jazz directly to NYC public schools. By connecting students with working musicians, Jazz Generation offers an inspiring introduction to the cultural roots and evolving traditions of jazz music.
