Mr. Robert Sandler’s NYC History class took a trolley tour of Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn. This necropolis is an arboretum with over 500 different type of trees, and elaborate mausoleums and graves of Dutch colonists, Civil War veterans, and notable New Yorkers like Boss Tweed, Bill the Butcher (from Gangs of New York), Dewitt Clinton, and the Neo Expressionist artist Basquiat. It was the #2 tourist attraction in Victorian America after Niagara Falls. We also ate delicious Mexican food in Sunset Park. (photos courtesy of Mr. Sandler)
