Last week, Mr. Sandler's Jewish History students had the incredible opportunity to engage with author and journalist Mike Rothschild during a book talk about his groundbreaking work, Jewish Space Lasers: The Rothschilds and 200 Years of Conspiracy Theories. The book explores the origins and persistence of antisemitic conspiracy theories centered on the Rothschild family, tracing their history from their rise in the Frankfurt ghetto during the Napoleonic Wars to their modern portrayal as shadowy global influencers. Rothschild masterfully connects these age-old myths to current conspiracy narratives, including their intersections with Nazi propaganda, the establishment of the Federal Reserve, and modern attacks on figures like George Soros.
Hailed by critics for its meticulous research and compelling storytelling, Jewish Space Lasers has received accolades for shedding light on how these dangerous tropes have shaped history and fueled hatred. Mike captivated
the students with his in-depth knowledge, discussing the Rothschild family's real history as financiers and philanthropists and debunking the outlandish myths that have persisted for over two centuries.
