This past Tuesday, Mr. Robert Sandler took 30 students from his current Jewish History classes, and several alumni in their late 30s from his Jewish History class back in 2003 to see the acclaimed drama Prayer for the French Republic on Broadway. Written by Drama Desk Award winner Joshua Harmon and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer the play was the winner of the 2022 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play and Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play.
It was an incredibly powerful show that examined antisemitism in contemporary France, the holocaust and the complexity surrounding Jewish identity. The students loved it!
