<p><strong>Mr. Robert Sandler</strong> took his <strong>Jewish History class</strong> to the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s special exhibit -- <strong>Auschwitz: Not Long Ago</strong>, <strong>Not Far Away</strong>. It was incredibly powerful particularly because they just did a close reading of Primo Levi’s Survival in Auschwitz. <p>Students studying a full-scale model of Auschwitz (right) Students studied uniforms inmates wore in Auschwitz on left. They learned the different color triangles symbolize whether they were communists, Jehovah’s Witness, homosexuals or Jews. </p>
<p>They then saw the Yiddish musical fantasy, <em>The Sorceress </em>(first produced in 1878). The students enjoyed the charming operetta and loved schmoozing with the director afterwardsFinally, students made homemade chocolate babka! </p>
