Mr. Robert Sandler and Ms. Rosa Mazzurco (English department) were selected to participate in the Academy of Teachers seminar, “Income Inequality: Philosophy, Politics and Economics" with former governor Eliot Spitzer. It was hosted at the National Archives and was a fascinating discussion. They explored the distributive justice philosophy of John Rawls, John Kenneth Galbraith's History of Financial Euphoria and Spitzer's career as attorney general. Spitzer taught them about fraud and corruption cases he prosecuted involving Merrill Lynch, pharmaceutical companies and the Gambino Crime family. They also discussed controversial issues such as Senator Warren's wealth tax, Medicare for All and free college proposal. Congratulations to them both on this opportunity!
