Mr. Li's Asian American Studies Class Hosts Special Guests

<p data-block-key="9ver9">This week, Mr. Hing Li's Asian American history class had two guest speakers to help support students with their projects on Asian neighborhoods in NYC. </p><p data-block-key="71i2v">May Ying Chen is a labor activist and organizer, who helped support the ILGWU back in the 1980s/90s, such as the 1982 garment workers' strike. She will be featured in a student's project about garment factories in NYC Chinatown later this month. </p><p data-block-key="bf6vn">Chris Kwok, a Stuy Alumnus, is an adjunct Professor at Hunter and an arbitrator and mediator. He came to provide historical context to communities like Flushing and its significance to NYC History. He has helped network the students with local representatives and members within the AAPI community to secure interview. </p><p data-block-key="8ljdc"><a href="https://canva.link/gs3km0p28stpdtk">See a full size photo collage here.</a></p>
