This week, Mr. Jerry Cintron took advantage of our unseasonably warm Fall weather and held class outdoors. They took learning to the sidewalks of Chambers Street right outside Stuyvesant. Principal Contreras expressed the following in appreciation and observation, “There is something wonderful about making our work and learning public and integral with the entire community. I saw residents stop with their children and engage in discussions about the skeletal diagrams drawn by our students. Through such public work, we celebrate learning and content knowledge. We make it democratic and speak to the things we value as a community focused on scholarship. It serves as a metaphor for our larger goal; we learn to give, to contribute to the world beyond Stuyvesant.” (photos courtesy of Mr. Cintron)
