Stuy Anti-Sex Trafficking Club is collaborating with Purpose Jewelry, an organization dedicated to helping the survivors of sex trafficking get back on their feet. The organization provides education, healthcare, counseling, and vocational training. This organization employs survivors to handcraft beautiful jewelry, including bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings. For the upcoming holidays, they are selling items like candles and ornaments. There will be a Holiday Outreach Campaign to Survivors of Sex Trafficking from December 10th to December 14th. For more on Purpose Jewelry please visit their website at www.purposejewelry.org and use promotional code stuyvesant18. In addition to the promotion, Stuyvesant will host guest speaker, Kyra Wooden from the ECPAT USA organization; the first U.S.-based nonprofit to work on the issue of commercial sexual exploitation of children. This student presentation will take place on Tuesday, December 11th in Lecture Hall B at 3:45 to 5pm. The talk will be focused around youth activism and discussing the ways that students can get involved in combating sex trafficking and how to detect it.
