Freshmen -- activate your Naviance Account and add your parents/guardians!

As a ninth grader, you do not need to know which colleges you would like to apply to as a senior, what you'll want to major in, etc...it is too early for these kinds of decisions!  You have plenty of time to investigate your options and to work with your college counselor later in your high school career.  

We do, however, want to take a moment to remind you about Naviance, which we first emailed you about in the fall term.

Naviance is an online system that allows you to explore potential colleges and careers/majors, review Stuyvesant’s historical college application data, and stay informed regarding important college planning tasks and events.  Information from College Office presentations and other useful tools are available each year in the Document Resources section of your Naviance account.

You will use Naviance regularly starting in your junior year.  In your senior year, you will use Naviance to indicate where you’ll be applying to college, and our college counselors will use the system to submit required application documents to colleges. Until then, you can use Naviance begin to explore colleges and/or majors & careers, check out student opportunities, etc., if you're curious and want to get a very early start.  

Please complete the following steps when you have a moment:

Step 1: Activate your Naviance Student account.

·        Visit the following link:  https://student.naviance.com/stuyvesant

·         Click on “I'm new and I need to register”

·         Enter your unique registration code: !fc_regcode

Then, simply follow the steps to confirm your email address and create a password.  

You can then log in to Naviance at any time via the link below:

https://student.naviance.com/stuyvesant

Step 2: Log in to your account and enter information for your parent (s)

-click on the dropdown arrow next to the circle with your initials in the upper right corner of the screen 

-click on "my account" 

-click on "parents/guardians" and then click on the red circle with the + sign

-enter at least a working email address for a parent and click save

STEP 3: Email our College Office secretary to request that the parent account (s) be activated.

-Students should enter "PLEASE ACTIVATE PARENT ACCOUNT" in the subject of the email and include only the student's name and official class within the body of the email.

Parents will then receive an email within three business days through which they can access their parent accounts. 

Once these steps are complete, please feel free to use any of the college or career search tools within.  We will show you more of Naviance in the coming years.  If you have any trouble with any of these steps please email Ms. DeMasi.
