<p><strong>Ms. Elizabeth Hughes </strong>shares that <strong>New York Cares</strong> is happy to invite you and your child to participate in our <strong>FAFSA Completion Event</strong> to help students apply for financial aid for college. On <strong>Thursday, December 6<sup>th</sup> </strong>in room 351 <strong>at Stuyvesant High School</strong>, a team of trained volunteers will provide <strong>FREE</strong> assistance to students and their families as they complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This program has been run at many other schools, and as a result, hundreds of families learned about their financial aid packages in time to make informed decisions about college acceptances. <strong>To participate in the FAFSA Completion Event:</strong></p>

<li><strong>RSVP</strong>to <strong>Mrs</strong>. <strong>Elizabeth</strong> <strong>Hughes at </strong><strong><a href="mailto:ehughes@stuy.edu">ehughes@stuy.edu</a></strong> by <strong>Monday, December 3<sup>rd</sup> </strong>(spaces are given out on a first come, first serve basis, so RSVP as soon as possible!) <strong>Please be certain your child will be available to attend the appointment with you </strong>before you RSVP. We <strong>will not</strong> be able to assist any parent without their child being present for the entire duration of the appointment.</li>
<li> <strong>Your child as well as one parent must</strong>r<strong>egister for a FSA ID before the workshop </strong>(for instructions on how to obtain your FSA ID, please consult the attached <strong>FAFSA FSA ID INSTRUCTIONS</strong> sheet)</li>
<li><strong>Bring financial documents listed on the attached FAFSA PREP REQUIRED INFORMATION </strong>sheet (tax forms, social security numbers, etc.) If you do not have a social security number you may still be eligible to apply for financial aid</li>
<li><strong>Bring a list of colleges you have applied to or will apply to</strong></li>
<li><strong>Arrive at Stuyvesant’s first floor promptly at the start time you selected: </strong>6:00pm, 7:00pm, or 8:00pm. From the first floor, you will be escorted to Room 351.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>*Please note – the parent and child must attend the appointment together to complete the FAFSA.</strong></p>
