Ms. Marissa Maggio shares that the Stuy Environmental Club was just awarded a $500 grant from EcoRise to beautify a public space in the school. The students have asked for 4 hydroponic units, 2 tower gardens and 2 mini grow walls
Their hope is to set them up in the cafeteria as part of the Garden to Cafeteria Program. Unlike the roof garden these systems will allow Stuy to harvest quite a bit of vegetables all year round, and we plan to work with the Cafeteria staff to grow those veggies that will be most useful in the kitchen. The students also wish to create some infographics to educate the student body on the foods we eat and how they grow. We are looking forward to this beautiful addition to our cafeteria!
