Climate change-related events like droughts, heat domes, ocean acidification, and toxic algae blooms have been causing a scarcity of many commercial seafood species. This change can be classified as the gentrification of seafood because of how once abundant fish turned into a delicacy. In addition, fishermen cannot catch as much fish as they would in the past to conserve the fish population, meaning that they won’t be able to earn as much. - Caitlyn Lee ('28)
