The Environmental Club presents the Eco-Fact of the Week for the week of October 25, 2021
Globally, the world generates as much as 50 million tonnes of e-waste annually, according to the UNEP, and only 20% is recycled formally. The rest either end up in landfills, contaminating the nearby soil and groundwater, or in developing countries, which are informally recycled by workers, putting their health at risk. So next time, when you have an electronic device that you want to discard, you can donate it, sell it, or drop it off at a certified e-waste recycler such as BAN or check out this EPA website to find recyclers near you.
