The Environmental Club shares the Eco Fact of the week for the week of November 30, 2020 -- Even though China is the largest plastic producer, the United States sits the number one plastic waste producer out of any country in the world. The US throws 42 million metric tons of plastic into the environment in 2016 alone, almost twice that of India, the runner-up, at 26.3 million metric tons in the same year. This means that each person produces 286 pounds of plastic per year on average! And only 9% of plastic is recycled each year!
Do your obvious part in reducing plastic waste by doing the 3 R’s — Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, but you can also raise the effectiveness exponentially by helping your friends and family to do the same! Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
