The Environmental Club shares the Eco-fact of the week fo the week of November 15, 2021.
It is often debated whether pens or pencils are better. However, pencils are the more eco-friendly choice. The production of pens releases chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere, which contribute significantly more to the greenhouse effect than carbon dioxide does. Additionally, the mining of the metals that make up the tip of a pen is more damaging to the environment than graphite mining. Although pencils require cutting down trees to make, shavings can be composted, unlike the plastics that make up pens. Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
