The Environmental Club presents the Eco fact of the week for the week of December 20, 2021 – The rise in sales of cosmetic and personal care products has only contributed to the harmful effects on the planet. Ingredients in these commonly used products are generally unregulated. When cosmetics go down the drain and ultimately into rivers, lakes, and oceans, it does the most damage. These chemicals harm animals and vegetation in marine environments by the spread of the food chain. When the water evaporates and gathers in clouds, it subsequently brings chemical pollutants. However, many of these chemicals do not break down and only accumulate in our ecosystem. These chemicals will only end up in our land and oceans, damaging natural habitats and species. Help to preserve our resources and properly sort your trash!
