Last Monday, Dr. Lisa Greenwald took students to the Central Synagogue to hear a book talk by James Forman, author of the Pulitzer Prize winning book, Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America. After the talk, student had a private tour of the historic Central Synagogue. This talk is part of the synagogue’s broader project on bail reform and mass incarceration. In part, thanks to their work, the law was changed last year preventing the incarceration of minors with adult prisoners for nonviolent offenses.
There were also remarks by Senior Rabbi Angela Buchdahl. (photos courtesy of Ms. Suri)
