Congratulations to Stuyvesant’s College Counseling Team: Ms. Elizabeth Hughes, Mr. Jeffrey Makris, and Ms. Jeaurel Wilson. They received one of three awards presented last week at the CUNY Macaulay Honors College counselor appreciation event.
Each year, CUNY Macaulay Honors College recognizes one or more counselors at their annual Counselor Appreciation Reception. This year, they chose to present one of the three awards to the college counseling team at Stuyvesant. Our team was selected because of our dedication to serving an incredibly large and diverse group of students, many of whom come from first generation, second language, and/or financially disadvantaged backgrounds. They also cited the team’s professionalism, collegiality, and availability to communicate with Macaulay staff with regard to concerns about individual applicants, and planning special events like CUNY Night at Stuy. Mr. Jeffrey Makris accepted the award on behalf of the team as Ms. Wilson and Mrs. Hughes were back at Stuy, holding down the fort.
