Congratulations to NYC Math team on Harvard-MIT Tournament 2020

Mr. Stan Kats shares that last weekend the NYC Math Team competed in the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament.

Our top team, Tin Man, finished 5th place in the GUTS round, a live round where teams compete face-to-face.

During the team round, our second team, Scarecrow, finished in 7th place. The team had six Stuyvesant students on it - Ben Gallai, Ben Kreiswirth, Jerry Liang, Maxwell Peng, Theo Schiminovich, and Mario Tutuncu-Macias.

Overall, Tin Man finished in 8th place, up from 10th last year. The team had six Stuyvesant students on it - Akash Das, Rishabh Das, Ethan Joo, Srinath Mahankali, Kimi Sun, and Max Vaysburd. Scarecrow finished in 15th place overall, up from 43rd place last year.

Two of our students, Kimi Sun and Max Vaysburd, qualified for the Harvard-MIT Invitational Competition. This is the second time that Kimi has qualified for it, a first for the City Team.
