<p><strong>Stuyvesant is celebrating</strong> <strong>with the Social Studies Department</strong>! After <em>sweeping</em> the NYC National History Day competition, <strong>25 students competed</strong> at the New York State NHD Cooperstown Competition on April 29<sup>th</sup>. Stuyvesant students <strong>won 15 medals and are sending seven to National NHD Competition in June! </strong></p>
<p>Congratulations to <strong>Hanna Kim and Christy Guan, who won 1<sup>st</sup> place</strong> for their exhibit board on the Tragedy of the Great Fire and Triumph of Skyscraper City.</p>
<p>Congratulations as well to <strong>Aditi Haman, who won 2<sup>nd</sup> place</strong> for her website on The NYC Landmarks Law: Triumph Out of Tragedy; and to <strong>Penny Wang, Anna Xia, Sarah Leung</strong> and <strong>Emma Choi</strong> <strong>won 2<sup>nd</sup> place</strong> for their theatrical performance on The Cutter Incident: The Triumph over Polio and the Tragedy of Vaccine Malpractice. <em>(photos courtesy of Mr. Sandler)</em></p>
<p>Wishing them all the best as they travel to the National Competition on June 9-13, 2019. <strong>Ms. Suri</strong> shares this is the <strong>first time Stuyvesant has reached the Nationals.</strong> We’re cheering you all on!!</p>
