On Saturday, March 9th, eighteen finalists gathered for the State Finals at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to recite works by both classic and contemporary poets—including Ross Gay, Padma Venkatraman, Maya Angelou, Chen Chen, Emily Dickinson, Arthur Sze, Seamus Heaney, Rita Dove, and Nick Flynn, among others.
