Congrats to StuyMUN, who traveled to Baltimore for JHUMUNC on 2/9,10

Senior, Joshua Weiner shares that this weekend, the Stuyvesant Model United Nations team (StuyMUN) travelled to Baltimore for JHUMUNC, an annual conference hosted by Johns Hopkins University and one of the largest in the country. Students participated in a variety of committees, ranging from general assemblies to quadrumvirate crises, discussing all manner of topics including but not limited to: nuclear warfare, the implications of genetic modification, and Venezuela’s ongoing political crisis. Students in the Committee on the Peaceful Use of Outer Space worked towards the military regulation of outer space, while delegates of the Anatolian Wars crisis were kept on their toes, even reporting to a midnight crisis session. As a reward for many successful hours spent in our committees, the StuyMUN team adjourned at Nando’s for the traditional nightly debrief and team dinner, in which each member recounted their experiences from that day over chicken. After three days of intense committee sessions full of debate, negotiation, and solution-building, delegates attended closing ceremonies where many students’ hard work was recognized with an award. The team returned home on Sunday, concluding yet another unforgettable JHUMUNC and another weekend of representing our school on the national stage.(photo courtesy of Josh)
