Congratulations to Iago Macknik-Conde, who was just awarded a full scholarship to the National WWII Museum’s Leadership Academy, a summer learning experience that immerses college and high school students in a study of World War II so they can relate the lessons of the war to their own lives and the world around them. The seven-day academy takes place in New Orleans. Students spend the week with the Museum's staff of historians and curators exploring and researching exhibits, artifacts, and historic sites such as Jackson Barracks, Bollinger Shipyards, and the Chalmette Battlefield. Iago’s scholarship will cover all costs, including travel to and from New Orleans, hotel lodging for the week, meals, local transportation, tour fees to historical sites, etc.
In addition, academy participants will have the option to earn 3 college credits through the online course Topics in WWII History, taught by a history professor from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, and moderated by Museum staff. If you'd like to learn more about this program see their site here. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/
