Mr. Eric Barry shares congratulations to the Stuyvesant Chess Team for their stellar performance at the USCF Grade Level National Championships last weekend in Washington, D.C.
Stuyvesant was the only school in the nation to win a Top 5 trophy in every event.
Special congratulations go to the 9th graders, who tied for first, with a team of Jed Sloan, Artitro Chakravarty, Ali Lussie, Nicholas Marchese, Simon Morden, Hema Vikas, and Abigail Yang.
10th Graders earned fourth in the nation, represented by Krish Bandari, Kyle and Kaleb Lancman, Christopher Louie, Nicholas Oh, Sasha Gordon-Zolov, and Rachel and Dan Prizant.
11th Graders Charles Hua, Jason Dang, Robert Shibata, and Adeeb Khan brought home the 2nd place trophy.
Seniors Eugene Yoo, Ryan Lee, Kyle Chan, Ben Medina, and Preston Shirazi earned 3rd place.
Individual awards recognized Eugene Yoo, who won a Bronze medal in the 12th grade competition, Krish Bandari, tied for 10th place in 10th grade, and Jed Sloan for 5th place in the 9th grade category. Aritro Chakravarty and Ali Lussie both finished tied for 10th among 9th graders.
Awards also went to Preston Shirazi, tied for first among 12th graders rated under 1000, Jason Dang, first among 11th graders rated 1400-1599, and Nicholas Marchese, tied for 1st in blitz for those rated under 1600.
