<p>Mr. Eric Barry shares congratulations to the <b>Stuyvesant Chess Team</b> for their stellar performance at the<b> USCF Grade Level National Championships</b> last weekend in Washington, D.C.</p><p>Stuyvesant was the only school in the nation to win a Top 5 trophy in every event.</p><p>Special congratulations go to the 9th graders, who tied for first, with a team of <b>Jed Sloan, Artitro Chakravarty, Ali Lussie, Nicholas Marchese, Simon Morden, Hema Vikas, and Abigail Yang.</b></p><p>10th Graders earned fourth in the nation, represented by <b>Krish Bandari, Kyle and Kaleb Lancman, Christopher Louie, Nicholas Oh, Sasha Gordon-Zolov, and Rachel and Dan Prizant.</b></p><p>11th Graders <b>Charles Hua, Jason Dang, Robert Shibata, and Adeeb Khan brought home the 2nd place trophy.</b></p><p><b>Seniors Eugene Yoo, Ryan Lee, Kyle Chan, Ben Medina, and Preston Shirazi earned 3rd place.</b></p><p>Individual awards recognized <b>Eugene Yoo</b>, who won a <b>Bronze medal in the 12th grade competition,</b> <b>Krish Bandari, tied for 10th place in 10th grade, and Jed Sloan for 5th place in the 9th grade category.</b> <b>Aritro Chakravarty and Ali Lussie both finished tied for 10th among 9th graders.</b></p><p>Awards also went to <b>Preston Shirazi,</b> tied for <b>first among 12th graders rated under 1000,</b> <b>Jason Dang, first among 11th graders rated 1400-1599, and Nicholas Marchese, tied for 1st in blitz for those rated under 1600.</b></p><p>Thanks go <b>Mr. Barry,</b> the chess club faculty advisor, and <b>Ms. Schweitzer</b> for accompanying the team and to Tammy Prizant and Ben Morden, for serving as parent chaperones.</p><p>Special thanks to the Alumni Association for funding travel expenses and the Parents Association for funding registration fees.</p><p><a href="https://www.canva.com/design/DAFVIg6IcoE/NDF2OgJ6enCpECCwr8y7dw/view?utm_content=DAFVIg6IcoE&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink">For a full size photo collage click here.</a></p>
