Congrats to Moot Court Team!

Congrats to Moot Court Team!

Congratulations to Stuyvesant's Moot Court Team!!  For the second year in a row - the team was number ONE of Manhattan schools and among the Top FOUR NYC schools in the Semi-finals.   The Moot Court competition,  sponsored by the DOE's Justice Resource Center partners with Fordham Law School and mentor law firms for city wide competitions that expose students to how cases are argued before the Supreme Court of the United States.  Student competitors develop and present their case in front of a panel of Judges by utilizing legal constructs, case Precedent and policy positions.   Over 50 Schools competed this season so moving to the second to last round is quite an accomplishment demonstrating the great commitment and performances of the students - not only of those who competed but the whole team.   This year's performance in the semi-finals was incredibly impressive and as the Judge's noted  :"on par with practicing lawyers".  As their faculty coach, It is with pride  that I share their incredible achievement with the broader Stuyvesant community.

Photos include members of the team receiving their award plaque from Federal judges of the 2nd Circuit at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Courthouse on Dec 2 and from competitions.  Team photo from Left to right:  Lisa-Jane Shuman, Faculty coach, Farheen Rahman, Katherine Nguyen, Nian Quane, Deputy Captain, Mufei Yu, Deputy captain, Noa Salas, Adriene Devery-Michaels, Deputy captain, Myles Vuong, Captain, Ellis Thompson, Michaela Madanire.
