Mr. Stan Kats shares that recently, NYC Math Team competed at the American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) Competition. This is traditionally a national math competition, but this year was international with 156 teams and over 2000 students from the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, Chile, Colombia, and the Philippines.
Stuy's top team, Tin Man, ended up finishing in 2nd place overall, which is the best performance we've had in 13 years. Twelve of the fifteen students on the team were Stuyvesant students: Alice Zhu, Benjamin Kreiswirth, Declan Stacy, Ethan Joo, Jerry Liang, Mario Tutuncu-Macias, Max Vaysburd, Maxwell Pang, Paul Gutkovich, Rishabh Das, Srinath Mahankali and Theo Schiminovich.
One of our captains, Rishabh Das, got a perfect score on the individual round and ended up finishing in 3rd place in the competition.
