Parents can now apply for a seat on Community and Citywide Education Councils!
The application process has been much simplified this year. All you need to do is visit https://mystudent.nyc/ and log into your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) or sign up for one. Once you have a NYCSA with all your children attending DOE schools linked, the application will automatically determine which council(s) you are eligible for--all you need to do is choose which one(s) you wish to run for.
The pre-filled information in the application comes through NYCSA from data entered by your school. If you see mistakes, such as your spouse's name instead of yours, you will need to contact the school to correct them. Please make sure that you have received an account creation code that is separate from your spouse's--you must apply using your own separate account.
The Elections Team is holding daily information sessions for parents who want to know more about the Education Councils and the election process. These one-hour sessions are held at various times in English and other languages, including American Sign Language--look out for the weekly schedule, attached here and which you should also be receiving from your parent coordinator.
