Sophomore, Brigid Allen started a campaign to abolish no-knock warrants after hearing about the death of Breonna Taylor in May. Brigid shares, “After researching the issue in depth, I found out that no-knock warrants are performed at the wrong home over 10% of the time. These botched raids often lead to shootouts and standoffs, and often come with innocent fatalities, like in the case of Breonna Taylor. From 2010 to 2016, 81 civilians have died at the hands of police in no-knock SWAT raids, most of them innocent. I want to raise awareness for this cause and help abolish this harmful and dangerous practice. Police violence is a prevalent issue in our world and this is just one aspect of it, and if I have the ability to make a difference I want to do everything in my power to do so.”
