Dear Stuyvesant Community,
After a long and challenging year for all, I have exciting news. Stuyvesant High School will have a live, in-person graduation at Arthur Ashe stadium for the Class of 2021! We are very excited to offer this opportunity, but we have other great news as well—thanks to the incredible generosity of the school administration, The Parent's Association, as well as of the Alumni Association, students will NOT have to pay for this graduation in senior dues! The only dues that we are asking is the purchase of senior regalia and T-shirt at the SmoothUSA portal (closing on 4/21!) and the yearbook (amount TBD).
The commencement ceremony will take place on June 25, 2021, at 12:00 PM (Noon). All grads will be socially distanced and all family members and faculty interested in attending will have seats in socially distanced pods. The stadium will be at about 20% capacity, which means that this year each graduate will be able to get as many as three additional tickets. All attendees must have either (a) proof of vaccination or (b) a covid negative test result (test taken 3 days max prior to the event). If you haven't already done so, please make every effort to get vaccinated! The stadium is covered, so the event can happen either rain or shine. Additionally, the graduation ceremony will be livestreamed online so those who cannot be in attendance will still be able to see the proceedings from home.
In order for us to plan this event, it is vital that we learn how many people plan to attend. As a result, we are asking you to fill out this form. This form must be filled out by April 30th or you will NOT be able to attend the in-person ceremony. To make things easier please ensure that only one form is filled out per family.
Finally, a proviso: we all know that this virus has proven to be extremely tricky and tenacious. We are doing everything possible to make this in-person graduation a reality, but given the times we cannot absolutely guarantee that it will occur. If things get worse or if the state changes its guidelines, there is nothing that we can do, While I am fairly confident that things will be allowed to proceed, nothing is 100% during the pandemic.
Thank you so much for your patience and looking forward to your response in the form!
Best,
Matt Polazzo
