As a reminder from the College Office, virtual events are being held this spring by colleges and universities across the US and even overseas.
Virtual tours, online info sessions, live chats with admissions representatives and/or current students are now more available than they’ve ever been before. Below are just a few examples of the kinds of events being offered this spring.
University of Chicago: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/visit/tours-visits
Tulane University: https://admission.tulane.edu/virtual-visiting
Rice University: https://admission.rice.edu/schedule-my-visit
UC Berkeley: https://apply.berkeley.edu/portal/presentation
SUNY System: https://www.suny.edu/attend/events/
Remember that the best way to stay on top of these events for any specific institution (and to be notified as soon as their campuses open up once again) is to go to the admissions page of their websites and request information.
This is also a great time to remember that there are some very useful books that can help you learn about specific colleges, too. The Fiske Guide to Colleges, for example, has been popular amongst college counseling professionals and families for years; it provides two-three page summaries of a number of different selective colleges that can introduce you to each schools’ history, campus culture, most popular or best programs, etc.
We look forward to the day when we can do all of this live and in person once again. But until then, take advantage of these virtual opportunities to learn about different colleges and, in some cases, to show demonstrated interest.
