Summer Innovation Program in August - Contact Mr. Thomas

The Chemistry and Physics Department is offering students the opportunity to participate in a Summer Innovation Program focused on the knowledge and skills of inventing and entrepreneurship. The objective of this summer program will be to engage the students in the exploration of science, technology, engineering and math through the process of discovery learning.

The Program will run from August 5th to August 30th; Monday to Friday; 8am to 2pm.

  • August 5th to 23rd (8:00 am to 2:00 pm): The students will learn how to use AutoCad Mechanical Desktop and Corel Draw to design and build models and to invent innovative products using the 3D Printers, Laser Cutters and CNC Machines in the Innovation Lab leading to the development of a functional prototype.
  • August 26th to 30th (8:00 am to 2:00 pm): The students will learn about entrepreneurship and they will apply their knowledge and skills of design thinking to market and pitch their innovative product to a review panel.

 Registration: To register, please send an e-mail to Mr. Scott Thomas at SThomas24@schools.nyc.gov with the subject line “Stuyvesant Summer Innovation Program” along with a paragraph articulating “why you are interested in the program and why you should be selected for the program” no later than 8:00 pm on Saturday, June 22nd. The top 30 students will be accepted and notified by June 28th. Participation in the entire summer program is required.

Cost: The summer program is FREE, thanks to the generous support of a parent donor. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the school and all materials and program costs will be covered.
