The next Stuyvesant Blood Drive will be hosted Thursday, January 3rd in the lobby. Those interested may donate any time from 3rd-10th period. Excuse forms will be provided for students who do not have any free periods. To meet the requirements to donate, you must be 16 years of age or older by January 3rd. You also must meet the height and weight requirements shown HERE.
From organ transplants to heart surgeries, today’s advanced medical care relies on blood transfusions. When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to save multiple lives. Blood donors help meet the daily transfusion needs of patients around the nation. However, severe winter weather has forced the cancellation of blood drives and closure of donation centers in parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Hundreds of blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected. Therefore, your blood donation is appreciated more than ever!
There will be pizza, snacks, drinks, and raffles for prizes. It's a great experience and you could be saving a life! If you are a current senior and you donate blood twice or more this year, you will be eligible to wear a special red cord at graduation. **If you are a senior who wish to obtain a donor cord but didn’t donate during the September blood drive, we advise you to donate during the January blood drive to secure a donor cord!
